Why It’s Okay To Argue In A Love Relationship
Are you currently in a relationship with another person where you believe that both of you are in love with each other? You may have been with this person for many years and have come to the conclusion that this is who you want to be with for the rest of your life. People sometimes question whether or not this is true if they are arguing with one another. It’s normal to argue in any relationship, even if you have the deepest respect and love for the other person, but is it actually okay to argue, especially excessively, in a love relationship?
Why people argue
First of all, we have to address why people tend to argue with one another to understand if this is potentially a healthy or even necessary behavior. For example, if you are not happy with something someone has done, arguing with that person may occur, especially if they are not listening to what it is that you want. Arguments can happen out of nowhere. You may find yourself arguing and not even knowing why. Other times, arguments are pointedly made to address certain topics that you are passionate about, which can be done either defensively, or just to have that type of invigorating conversation.
Arguments in a love relationship
There is a fallacy that many people believe, which is that people in love rarely argue. This could not be further from the truth. In fact, if you are in a relationship where there is hardly any arguing, it is likely to be an unhealthy union. Relationships where arguments seldom occur tend to be very imbalanced. There is always one person who is calling the shots and the other person is simply going along with whatever the other person says. This is definitely not a healthy way to go about any relationship.
In conclusion, it is most certainly healthy for couples in a love relationship to argue. People need to express their opinions and defend their points of view, or else a relationship really does not exist. There are couples who think very similarly and who have no need to argue because they simply agree on most things. However, for those who are in a regular relationship, even if they love each other dearly, arguments, even heated exchanges, must occur to ensure that the relationship is as balanced as possible.
